Peter C. Striffler, P.E.

 

            Pete was born in Portsmouth and grew up in Virginia Beach where he presently resides.  He attended Virginia Tech on a football scholarship and graduated in 1974 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  He continued his studies at Virginia Tech completed his Master of Engineering in 1975.  He married Alice Hervey of Portsmouth upon graduation and took his first engineering position with Shell Oil Company at their refinery in Norco, Louisiana.  Since that time, he has worked for the Navy Atlantic Division (LANTDIV) and two other engineering firms.  He is presently the President of Striffler Engineering Associates, P.C., in Virginia Beach.  He served as the President of the Hampton Roads Chapter of ASHRAE in 1987.  Besides his involvement in ASHRAE, he is the Public Relations Committee Chairman for the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC/V).  He has also served as the President of the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Tech Hokie Club.  He has one child, Brian, who is 14.  Pete has been actively involved in coaching youth sports including flag football, basketball, and baseball; he presently serves as the Area Chairman for the North Beach Recreation League.  Pete enjoys all sports and participates in golf and fitness training.
